Witchampton village is part of the Vale of Allen Parish, along with the smaller hamlets of Moor Crichel, Long Crichel and Manswood. It sits in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is in a conservation area. The village has a shop, primary school, pre-school, garage, bakery, village hall and village pub/club. There is a fine community feeling, with regular coffee mornings and monthly soup lunches which raise funds for the village groups. The village lies on the West Bank of the River Allen and is mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1087, although it is believed to be earlier.
